WEDNESDAY TRAINING TIP

Become a Bodybuilding Fan

Only a fraction of a percentage of those who lift weights will step on a bodybuilding stage. And competing on the pro level requires a level of commitment that few outsiders can understand – you don’t just, as the hilarious Planet Fitness commercial says, “Lift things up and put them down!”

Competing in a small bodybuilding, physique, fitness, or bikini show is a great way to jump-start your training and help you change the shape of your shape. You will reassess your training, diet, supplements, and sleep habits. Knowing you will be on stage in swimwear will encourage you to skip that extra slice and grind out that extra rep. If getting on stage is too much, do the next best thing – become a fan!

Think about it. How many of today’s best athletes picked up their first football after watching Peyton Manning throw pin-point accurate touchdown passes or Serena Williams serve game-winning aces? Likewise, going to a show and watching the competitors display what’s possible in physical transformation may be just what you need to get your training back on track, or help you take it to the next level. One last thing – don’t settle for watching a show on YouTube. Go in person and take in the experience.

BOTTOM LINE: Become a bodybuilding fan to inspire you to train harder. (TSS)
